ADVENTURE AND MISCHIEF STUDIOS
First of all I want to say great blog! I had a quick question which
I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious
to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing.
I have had a difficult time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out.
I do enjoy writing however it just seems like the
first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
Thank you so much for the generous compliments! I appreciate that! I’m really happy you like the site too. It took me a while to set-up and get just right xD
As for writing, I don’t have a particular process in getting ready. I pretty much write every single day which is imperative for you to do if you want to be…
1. A good writer
2. To improve your writing
3. To make it easier to write when the time presents itself.
But typically if you’re staring at something and struggling with it for more than about 10 or 15 minutes. Try switching to something else; another character’s perspective, a different angle of the scene your trying to write like…what would someone see if they were walking in on the scene? What would someone see if they were peaking through a window at what was happening. What if a character who didn’t know the character’s in the scene approached them?
Another trick is try starting with what a camera might see in a movie. How would it pan down or across, what would the audience see first? What would the character’s be smelling around them, why that particular spot? Is it special or does it mean something to them?
The more real a scene feels, the more focused you will be on it. If you’re having trouble starting one then maybe you can’t see it in your head yet. Does that make sense?
If you need anymore help though or if those hints help, let me know ^_^
